To get blood you must have doctor's prescription and a properly labelled blood sample in a plain tube and EDTA tube. Give the sample to Life Blood Centre.

Depending upon the blood component you need, it may take 45 minutes to 2 hours. You will be required to pay the service charges as per the rate-list given.

Occasionally, a certain type of blood or its component may be in short supply. Therefore, we recommend you check with Life Blood Centre before you visit with the blood sample.

We also offer the facility to pick up blood sample and deliver blood to distant hospitals at a nominal charge that covers the cost. This saves the relatives of the patient a lot of trouble and anxiety.

It takes between 45 minutes and 2 hours to cross-match the blood sample, carry out the necessary verifications and take the required medical and technical precautions before we can hand over the required contents. All precautions are taken with the objective of safety.

If you need more than one component, it may take a little longer.

A replacement means a donor willing to donate blood in exchange of some blood required by someone. Internationally, the practice of replacement is strongly discouraged for two reasons. The first possibility is that the replacement donor is a relative of the patient in need of blood if the donor is a relative of the patient, there is a very high probability that the donor may want to hide some vital information regarding his / her status as a potential donor. The second possibility is the donor is a paid donor, mostly paid by the relatives of the patient. Paid donors too fall in the high-risk zone.

Hence, at Life Blood Centre we follow this international practice of putting patient safety first and do not accept replacement.

Yes, LBC charges as per government norms. Life Blood Centre administers only approved testing charges uniformly from all the patients and hospitals in the city. The blood testing charges are controlled by government norms in India and no blood bank can charge beyond the approved cost norms. It can only recover the costs that it incurs during the blood banking process within this limit.
