Life Blood Centre (LBC) was established in 1981 as the first ever blood bank in Saurashtra, Gujarat, India and continues to be a leader in blood transfusion field employing scientific approach, advance technology, professional expertise and management in blood collection, testing, storage and distribution of safe, optimal quality blood.

Spread over 15,000 sq. ft., with its fully computerized database and well trained, dedicated work force, LBC has served 4,39,000+ patients in need. Over 12,000 donors voluntarily donate blood, in-house and in regularly organized camps. With its vast experience of over four decades, LBC is considered as one of the most reliable and prestigious blood banks. 

Saurashtra region encompasses 1/3^rd of the population of Gujarat. Strategically located Rajkot city is the medical hub of Saurashtra. Patients from surrounding districts in Saurashtra and Kutch region depend on medical facilities in Rajkot.   

Multi-speciality hospitals and clinics in the city attract large number of patients for treatment, but lack in house blood banking. This necessitates a significant role for Life Blood Centre to responsibly cater to the ever increasing demand for authentic supply of blood and blood components across all blood groups.

LBC operates as the lifesaving link between voluntary blood donors and patients in need of blood, providing blood units and components at a rate lower than the prescribed rates by Government of Gujarat, adhering to contemporary industry standards for quality and safety ensuring greater affordability to patients. This is further subsidized for deserving cases with only 8-10% of the total population paying full operational cost. Considerable volume of blood is served entirely free of cost to Thalassaemia children needing continual blood transfusions.

LBC’s operations are totally contingent on voluntary blood donations and  monetary donations from kind-hearted individuals & corporates as well as blood donation camp organizers & sponsors.
